Tadic: Kostunica Wants To Punish Serbia Because Serbia Denied Him Trust

Boris TadicThe leader of Democratic Party (Demokratska Stranka), Boris Tadic stated yesterday that the citizens’ electoral will should be respected, and that the government formed by “For a European Serbia” list with the SPS would continue to uphold the principles of EU integration, the defense of Kosovo, economic development and social justice.

He said that Serbian people had voted for a strong and stable Serbia with a clear European perspective, not for an isolationist government that would be led on the face of it by Vojislav Kostunica, but whose real chief would in fact be Vojislav Seselj.

Tadic said, “At the elections, the citizens didn’t vote for difficult post-election mathematics that would re-tailor the citizens’ will, and dramatically change the strategic course of the country. During its elections campaign, the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) didn’t tell its voters that it would be implementing Seselj’s policies, and now they are fending off an electoral fiasco by manipulating and changing the will of the citizens.”

He said, “Because Serbia denied him its trust, Kostunica now wants to punish Serbia; He wants to punish Serbia hand over the nation to Radicals.” He said, “Therefore, I will defend the will of the people and the strategic determination they confirmed with their votes on two separate occasions in the space of just a few months, using all possible democratic means.”
