Belgrade: It has “decided to organize local elections in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo”, says the Election Commission (RIK), which has published its decision on Kosovo election in the Official Gazette.
Yes, Belgrade is now out to go forward with organizing the May 11 ballot in Kosovo, despite objections by UNMIK that has announced that the elections, if organized by Belgrade, for municipal assemblies would be illegal.
RIK’s Official Gazette articulates that voting in Kosovo will be held for local municipalities and for the city council of Pristina, at the same polling stations where voting for national officials is conducted.
According to RIK, voting will be conducted in the municipalities of Vitina, Vu?itrn, Gnjilane, Gora, Zvecan, Zubin Potok, Istok, Klina, Kosovo Polje, Kosovska Kamenica, Kosovska Mitrovica, Leposavic, Lipljan, Novo Brdo, Obilic, Orahovac, Pec, Podujevo, Prizren, Srbica, Uroševac, Štrpce, and the city of Pristina.
According to the Official Gazette, RIK will determine the stations in Kosovo based on the proposal of administrative officials in Kosovo, no later than April 20. Internally displaced voters in, and outside of Kosovo, will vote in the municipalities in which they are registered as IDPs. RIK will also announce the total number of registered voters for every municipality in Kosovo.
