Burkina Faso, Nauru Recognize Kosovo’s Unilateral Independence

The Kosovo political status got another boost yesterday Burkina Faso – a landlocked nation in West Africa and Nauru – an island nation in the Micronesian South Pacific recognized its unilateral independence declaration.

Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso Capital) authorities stated, “Burkina Faso recognizes the existence of a new sovereign state, in keeping with international law, and Burkina Faso is ready to “establish friendly relations and cooperation with the new sovereign state.”

Meanwhile, the Republic of Nauru also recognized Kosovo’s Unilateral Independence. Following the recognition from Burkina Faso and Nauru, Kosovo’s unilateral independence declaration has so far been recognized by 39 states. The Kosovo assembly took the decision to declare secession on February 17. Serbia immediately annulled the proclamation and calling it illegal.
