Belgrade: Group of 48 Serbs serving in the Kosovo Customs Service yesterday tendered their resignations in protest against the unilateral declaration of Kosovo independence.
According to reports from Pristina, disciplinary action had been taken against the 48 Serb customs workers who had not come to work since February 17.
Spokesman from Pristina stated that the Customs Service had started looking for replacements. He said that “regardless of the fact that 48 Serb customs workers left, the Service has received applications from a large number of Serbs.”
Meanwhile, the Serbian government’s office in Kosovo, located in Kosovska Mitrovica, has stated that one of the three Serb returnees to Decane, Bozidar Tomic, has been attacked and assaulted by an unknown Albanian.
According to the Serbian government’s office in Kosovo, Tomic had been confronted by an Albanian in front of a cafe, who attacked him and punched him in the face several times after discovering that he was a Serb.
