Pristina: The Albanian authorities in the Kosovo capital yesterday said that they would not accept any agreement which might be reached by Serbian officials and UNMIK’s office in Belgrade.
Spokesman for the Kosovo president Dxavit Beqiri and Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuci, Zeri rejected any possibility of “accepting agreements regarding problems in Kosovo”, because, they said, only the elected authorities of Kosovo are competent for anything of the kind.
Kuci said, “It is a completed matter, Kosovo is an independent and sovereign state. Only the legitimate representatives of Kosovo and no one else may decide about Kosovo and issues relating to Kosovo.”
Kuci said that the Kosovo government has yet to receive official information about the talks in Belgrade between UNMIK officials and the Serbian authorities last week.
Sven Lindholm, the UNMIK spokesman stated that technical, and not Kosovo status, issues were being discussed in Belgrade. He also confirmed that the meetings were focused on police, justice, customs, healthcare, and railway issues.
