Prosecutors Ask UN Tribunal For 25 Years Jail For Ex-Kosovo PM

Amsterdam: The prosecutors have demanded the 25 years of sentence of Kosovo’s former prime minister Ramush Haradinaj, who is accused for crime against humanity in war in 1998-99, from the U.N. tribunal on Tuesday.
Haradinaj is a Kosovo Albanian and former regional commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). He resigned in 2005 U.N. tribunal has charged him for murder, rape and torture committed by his forces.
Last March, he went on trial with Idriaz Balaj, the commander of the Black Eagles, and Lahi Brahimaj, his uncle and associate.
The prosecutors said the circumstantial evidence against these three was strong in their final trail on January 14.
“Haradinaj, Balaj and Brahimaj participated enthusiastically in the joint criminal enterprise, and are guilty of crimes against humanity including persecution and murder, and violations of the laws and customs of war,” they said.
“The appropriate sentence is a single sentence of 25 years imprisonment for each accused,” they added.
