Prague Will Recognize Kosovo’s Independence At Right Time – Czech FM

Pristina: After meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, the Czech Foreign Minister, Karel Schwarzenberg announced that the Czech Republic will give a unified response with other EU states to the declaration of Kosovo’s independence.

While on his visit to Kosovo, Schwarzenberg said, Prague will recognize the independence of Kosovo when the right time comes.

Thaci repeated that Kosovo is going to declare its independence soon.

Schwarzenberg called a mistake to the recent statement given by Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica that the EU will have to opt between close relations with Serbia and the sending of an EU mission to Kosovo.

He said the EU should go for Kosovo’s developments as soon as possible. The participation of Czech Republic in the EU mission will be of same degree as in the UN KFOR mission.

Around five-hundred Czech soldiers operate within the KFOR mission.

Karel Schwarzenberg also met Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu, parliament chairman Jakup Krasniqi, and U.N. mission deputy head Larry Rossin.
