New York: Serbia and Kosovo’s leaders have asked the United Nations Security Council to discuss the mission of organization in the disputed Serbian province.
The council of 15 nations is planned for a meeting to review the work of the interim mission of the United Nation in Kosovo. The meeting will not discuss the litigious political future of Kosovo and is considered as a matter of routine.
Serbian President Boris Tadic has written a letter to the council, asked the right to participate in the discussion of the UN’s report on Kosovo’s mission.
The prime minister of the ethnic Albanian-led Kosovo government, Hashim Thaci, said, he also “want to take part in the council meeting so to present the views of the people of Kosovo.”
In a letter to council the president Ambassador Giadalla Ettalhi of Ethiopia, Thaci said, “We consider that it is critically important that I be given the opportunity to present the position of the Institution of Kosovo, which I lead, especially following our serious engagement and involvement in the negotiation.”
Both Tadic and Thaci are in hope of a positive response from Ettalhi.
