Pristina: The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Kosovo (SRSG), Lamberto Zannier has been warned by the Kosovo government that he could become a persona non grata.
According to reports, the SRSG for the UNMIK has been warned not to continue “making statements that do not reflect the reality in Kosovo”.
But, UNMIK representatives say Zannier’s remarks have been misinterpreted.
UNMIK spokesman Russell Geekie said, “When he spoke of Serbs in the Kosovo Police Service (KPS), he wanted to express his wish to bring Serbs back to the KPS fold.”
Geekie said that Zannier believed it was necessary to consider various proposals in order to reach a compromise solution.
