Belgrade: Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica stated that the united high-principled policy followed by Serbia and Russia today attained major success in the UN Security Council in protecting worldwide fundaments of international law and the independence and territorial truthfulness of Serbia.
Mr. Kostunica reads the statement, “The withdrawal of the new draft resolution which should have paved the way to independence for Kosovo-Metohija has extraordinary importance for Serbia and is a triumph of law over the attempt to seize Serbia’s territory.
Serbia is ready for new negotiations and the Serbian government strongly insists that new negotiations be conducted under the mandate of the Security Council, since only the Security Council, in accordance with the Resolution 1244, has the mandate to deal with resolving the issue of the regulation of the southern Serbian province.”
