Berlin – Young people who care about style are buying a particular type of glasses for summer. They have prominent frames and fit well into an overall ambitious look.
Large frames in gold finish, similar to those popular in the ’70s and early ’80s, are also in, said Bernhard Roetzel, a fashion and style expert from Berlin. The style known for their ambitious look are being produced in modern materials such as titanium and acetate.
The eyewear has become more popular because it is being worn by Hollywood stars as part of their evening attire. Aside from style trends, however, the size and shape of glasses should follow the contour of the chin and jaw, said Roetzel.
There are many types of face shapes and each has a description. In addition to oval and round faces, there are heart-shaped, trapezoid-shaped and rectangular-shaped faces. The goal when selecting glasses should be that the frames complement the shape of the face in a way that results in a harmonic total image.
A heart-shaped face looks well in filigree glasses, square contours work best in large frames and round faces need a contrast, such as glasses with corners emphasized. (dpa)
