Madrid – Spanish football giants Sevilla announced on Tuesday that Manolo Jimenez will continue as coach next season.
The contract of Jimenez finishes this June, but the Seville club have decided to extend it for another year, due to the success enjoyed this season.
Jimenez guided Sevilla to third place in La Liga, and they therefore return to the Champions League after one year’s absence.
Jimenez, 45, was a rugged left-back for Sevilla between 1983 and 1997. He was part of the Spain squad at the 1990 World Cup finals.
He took over as Sevilla coach in October 2007 when Juande Ramos, who is now at Real Madrid, left for Tottenham. (dpa)
