Warsaw – Poland’s second confirmed victim of swine flu is in good condition and will have a short stay in the hospital, health officials said Friday.
The 42-year old male was confirmed late Thursday to be infected with the influenza (A)H1N1 virus after he returned from a two-month trip to the United States, reported the Polish Press Agency PAP. The man returned Tuesday and arrived in Wroclaw after a transfer in Munich.
He was hospitalized in Kalisz, central Poland, while six other people he had been in contact were put on anti-virus medication.
Poland’s first case of swine flu was a 58 year-old woman who returned on May 2 from the US.
She was hospitalized near her home in the Podkarpacie district in southern Poland, and was released on Monday.
There are 6,497 confirmed cases of infections in 33 countries, show latest figures from the World Health Organization.
In Europe, Spain remains hardest hit with 100 cases. (dpa)
