Aberdeen is sleep-deprived capital of UK

sleep-deprivedA new survey has stated that Aberdeen is the most sleep-deprived city in the UK.

It was concluded after the survey that people of the Granite City managed to hit the sack for an average of just five hours and 23 minutes a night. Aberdonians were sleeping 45 minutes less than the average Briton. People in the UK at an average enjoy six hours and seven minutes, which is far lesser than the recommended eight hours of sleep every night.

About 50 per cent of people who were questioned said that they were deprived of sleep.

About 3,000 people across UK were questioned by the multimedia retailer QVC. People were asked about their sleep patterns.

Nearly 64 per cent said they felt irritable due to lack of sleep, almost 56 per cent said they were unable to concentrate, and 37 per cent said due to sleeping less they craved sugary fatty foods.

About 29 per cent stated that they suffered from insomnia while 87 per cent said they felt tired for most of the week, and 17 per cent admitted dozing off at work.

The causes stated for sleeping less were money worries, inappropriate environment at work, troubles in family, and relationship issues.

QVC Presenter Susie Adams, said, “Getting a good night’s sleep is so important – and even more so for people juggling busy lives at work and at home.”

Aberdeen, the capital of sleep deprivation, is closely followed by Chelmsford, and Belfast, Birmingham came was fourth and Gloucester was fifth.
