The Czech government yesterday decided to send 116 additional troops to Kosovo “because of the Serbian elections”.
Commander of the army unit sent to Kosovo, Ivo Dvorzak said that although no unrest was expected, the KFOR commander had decided to call in reinforcements, and that the reason for their deployment was to do with “Serbian elections held on May 11″.
According to a plan of deployment, additional Czech troops are sent in when tensions grow and risk of conflict is present.
This country’s reinforcements were already sent to Kosovo twice: during the November 2007 elections there, and when ethnic Albanians unilaterally declared independence in February this year.
