Jeremic Warns Of Destabilization

Belgrade: In Lisbon, Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic restated that Serbia is against forced independence of Kosovo-Metohija.

At a joint news conference with his Portuguese counterpart Luis Amado held after the conference, Jeremic admonished that imposing independence of Kosovo outside the UN Security Council is a promise for deterioration of western Balkans.

Recalling that Serbia’s position on Kosovo is opposing to that of the US, he alleged that Serbia requires cooperating with the US to get a result that would ensure peace in the area.

Mr. Jeremic said that Serbia’s status should not be astonishing as no country in the world would discontinue its territorial unity.

With his visit to Portugal that chairs the EU, the Serbian Foreign Minister closed his four-day European tour, during which he also traveled to Madrid, Vienna and Ljubljana.
