Velimir Ilic: DS Proposed Me To Form Government

Velimir IlicBelgrade: Velimir Ilic, the New Serbia (NS) leader asserted yesterday that “For a European Serbia” representatives proposed him to form new government in Serbia, but he rejected the proposal.

In an interview, when he was asked whether there was any chance of cooperation with Democratic Party (DS) leader Boris Tadic, Ilic replied: “I wouldn’t do that even if my life depended on it, even though many of them called me after May 11 to help them get closer to a majority.”

Ilic said, “I’m no traitor! How could I start working with Dilas, when he stopped corridors on behalf of the National Investment Plan. Only EUR 2.5mn was set aside from the NIP which is enough to build half a kilometer of road. Or, how could I go with Sutanovac when we’ve been waiting ten months for his signature so that we can start building flats on army property?! And with Dinki?, there is absolutely no way!”

Ilic declared that Serbia would have a new government no later than the start of June, and that it would consist of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS)-NS, the Serb Radical Party (SRS), and the Socialist coalition. He said, “Our talks with the Socialists and Radicals are going very well. The most important thing is that all three parties have agreed over the basic principles of the future government, so that Serbia, with God’s will, will have a national government in two weeks, at the latest.”
