Re-Voting Ordered In Three Locations

Belgrade: Serbia’s Electoral Commission (RIK) has ordered re-voting at three polling stations on May 18, because of irregularities on May 11.

The polling stations where re-voting will be conducted include Kraljevo, in the Kosovo municipality of Srbica and in the municipality of Zagubica, while results from one polling station in Cacak will be declared null and void without any re-vote taking place.

On the complaint in Zagubica, filed by the Serb Radical Party (SRS) in Pozarevac, RIK upheld the objections over irregularities on Monday night.

According to the complaint, G17 Plus posters were located within less than 50 feet of the polling station, adding that G17’s candidate in the municipality, Ilija S?epulovi?, was near the polling station all day, handing out promotional material.

A voter, who noticed that the names of his parents had been circled on the electoral register even though they had not turned out to vote, filed the Kraljevo complaint.

The vote in Srbica will be held again after a fight broke out in the polling station, causing material damage, with officials forced to close the station early.

And, the results in Cacak will be declared null and void after three extra ballot papers were found, leading RIK to decide that the vote should be declared invalid, since the problem concerned the statistics, as opposed to any objections.
