CeSID’s 11 May Election Report

Belgrade: According to CeSID’s unofficial results, the Democrats (DS) led coalition) has won 38.7 percent, or 103 seats in the new parliament.

The results show that the Serb Radical Party (SRS) is at number 2 with 29.1 percent and 77 seats, while the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) has won 11.3 percent, or 30 seats.

The survey revealed that 7.9 percent of voters have cast their ballots for the Socialists (SPS), who stand to win 20 seat, while the Liberal Democrats (LDP) are just over the five percent threshold, with 13 seats.

In order to form a government in Serbia, a party needs 126 in the 250-seat parliament.

According to the Center for Free Elections and Democracy, CeSID, the turnout was 60.7 percent, meaning that some 4,100,000 citizens have voted.

Since no party or coalition has emerged as a clear winner capable of putting together the next cabinet alone, talks on a new government coalition will follow. You can read more about the first statements coming from party leaders here.

The elections were also held in 38 countries around the world at 77 polling stations altogether, where 51, 211 Serbian citizens were entitled to vote.
