Belgrade: The agreement with the SRS and SPS over forming a local government in Belgrade has been reached – claimed the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) yesterday.

Serbia could be one of the 15 new members of the UN Human Rights Council that will be chosen at today’s session of the General Assembly.

Serbian President Boris Tadic and Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic were yesterday congratulated by French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner on their “great election victory.”

Belgrade: The United Serbia (JS), led by Dragan Markovic a.k.a. Palma, which had formed a pre-election coalition with the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) and the Associated Pensioners Party (PUPS), yesterday stated that if the DSS were to push for an immediate annulment of the SAA, there would be no government deal.

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic stated yesterday that he will discuss the free trade agreement and Kosovo issue with Ukrainian government officials.

Belgrade: The DS leader Boris Tadic yesterday called on all parties to respect the will of the people of Serbia; they convincingly voted in favor of resuming EU integration in May 11 elections.

Belgrade: Vojislav Kostunica, the DSS leader stated that only 126 MPs can form a majority that represents the will of the citizens. He warned that anything else would mean changing the will of the people, usurping power, and suspending democratic order.

Cedomir Jovanovic, LDP leader stated yesterday that his party would do everything to help the DS reach an agreement with the SPS, and if it could not do that parallel government would be formed.

The New Serbia (NS) leader Velimir Ilic yesterday said that he was confident that the next government will be formed with the SPS and SRS, even if no agreement has yet been reached.

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov yesterday said that Russia, India and China advocate a resumption of negotiations between Belgrade and Priština over Kosovo.
