First probable swine flu case confirmed in Ireland »

Dublin – Ireland’s Department of Health confirmed Thursday the first probable case of swine flu in the country.
Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan, told a press conference in Dublin that the case is an adult male who is understood to have recently returned from Mexico.

Lima – Peru suspended from Thursday all flights to and from Mexico over the ongoing flu epidemic, in a decision that Prime Minister Yehude Simon described as “painful but necessary.”
“We have the right to protect the country,” Simon noted.

EU health agency raises number of swine flu cases »

Stockholm – Seven European countries had confirmed cases of people infected with swine flu as of Thursday afternoon, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said.
Just over half the 25 European cases were reported from Spain with 13 confirmed, the agency said.
