Belgrade: Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, after meeting with the Slovak Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Kubis, said that Slovakia’s stand regarding Kosovo-Metohija is that Slovakia will not recognize Kosovo’s unilateral independence.

“I would like to express major concern over the situation that has presented itself following the illegal proclamation of the independence of Kosovo and Metohija, the southern Serbian province that has been under UN administration ever since June 1999.

Belgrade: Serbian President, Boris Tadic on Monday addressing the UN Security Council urged the countries that have recognized the illegal declaration of Kosovo independence to reconsider their decision.

Pristina: The Albanian authorities in the Kosovo capital yesterday said that they would not accept any agreement which might be reached by Serbian officials and UNMIK’s office in Belgrade.

Belgrade: It’s now crystal clear that Serbia is determined to hold local elections in Kosovo on 11 May, 2008, despite strong opposition from UNMIK and UN. The Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) has fabricated rules on the commission’s structure for holding municipal elections in Kosovo.

Speaking for a Frankfurt-based Serbian-language daily yesterday, Jiri Dienstbier, former UN human rights rapporteur for former Yugoslavia and former Czech foreign minister said that he would never recognize Kosovo’s independence, if he were a Serbian politician.

The UN Security Council will hold Kosovo Session, which will be attended by President Boris Tadic on Monday. The United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will present his quarterly Kosovo report to the Security Council in Kosovo session.

The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has said that the UNMIK mission is staying in Kosovo. “The UN will certainly be staying in Kosovo through its UNMIK mission,” said Ban in Vienna weekly few hours ago.

Slobodan Samardzic, Minister for Kosovo said late Saturday that the EU mission to Kosovo is illegal, with no legal framework present for it to replace UNMIK.
